Tracking 3rd party cases

Find the case

  • Log into PacerPro
  • Select the appropriate tab (district, appellate, bankruptcy or case locator)
  • Type in the state name and choose the correct court
    • Unless using the Case Locator tab, you must select a court
  • Enter the case number, attorney or party name
  • Enter the client code
  • Click search

Bookmark the case

  • On the results page to the right hand side, there will be two arrows

Once the case is bookmarked, you have 2 tracking options:

  • Check manually for docket updates
  • Receive email notifications on new entries

Check manually for docket updates

  • Pros: very cost-effective
  • Go to the MyCases tab in the upper left hand corner
  • Click the “MY CASES” button
  • PacerPro automatically checks PACER for new docket entries 3x daily for all courts except Arkansas and Nevada
    • Changes highlighted in yellow on the MyCases tab. Screen Shot 2016-04-18 at 7.49.50 AM.png
    • You will not automatically receive email notifications of changes when using this feature
    • To obtain the new entry
      • Open the click the blue case to open the docket sheet
      • Click the “sync now” button on the blue bar at the top of the docket sheetScreen Shot 2016-04-18 at 7.52.15 AM.png

Schedule an email update

  • Pros: convenience
  • Schedule an update by clicking “edit” under “update schedule” from the MyCases tab
  • PACER fees apply ($0.10- $3.00 per) regardless of whether there is activity
